Closing the Storefront Was Harder Than I Expected
Share
When I closed the doors to my brick-and-mortar crystal shop, I knew things would change. I expected fewer daily conversations, less foot traffic, and a different way of doing business. What I didn't expect was how much I would have to relearn—not just about running a business, but about myself.
Having a storefront gave people a place to discover me. Customers could wander in, ask questions, hold crystals in their hands, and leave with something that spoke to them. There was an energy in the shop that simply can't be duplicated through a screen.
Closing those doors meant starting over in many ways.
At first, I leaned heavily into my original website. It became the new "storefront" for my business. I poured countless hours into it, learned the platform inside and out, and built a community around it. It became familiar not just for me, but for so many of you.
Then came another difficult decision.
Suddenly, I wasn't just a shop owner anymore. I became the photographer, website designer, blogger, inventory manager, customer service representative, marketing department, and tech support all at the same time. Every sale became something I had to earn through consistency instead of convenience.
I realized that if I wanted to continue growing, I needed a website that could grow with me. That meant walking away from something I had invested years into and starting over...again.
Building this new website has been exciting, but it has also been incredibly overwhelming. Every page, every product, every photo, every blog post, every setting, and every little detail has had to be recreated. There have been moments where I've questioned whether I made the right decision because starting from scratch is exhausting. It's easy to underestimate how much work goes into rebuilding something you've already built once before.
There have been moments when I've questioned everything. I've wondered if people still remembered my business. I've fought the temptation to compare myself to bigger brands with larger budgets and entire teams behind them. There were days when posting online felt like shouting into the void.
But there has also been something beautiful in this season.
Without the storefront, I've been forced to build something that isn't limited by four walls. And by creating this new website, I'm building a foundation that will allow my business to grow for years to come. It's not just another online shop it's becoming a place where I can share crystal education, blogs, products, inspiration, and so much more.
This journey has taught me that growth often requires letting go of what's comfortable. Sometimes the hardest part isn't closing one door it's having the courage to open another, even when you don't know exactly where it will lead.
The journey hasn't been easy. There have been setbacks, late nights, and plenty of trial and error. But every challenge has taught me something valuable about resilience, adaptability, and the importance of showing up even when the results aren't immediate.
If you've followed my business through all of these changes from the storefront, to the original website, and now to this new chapter thank you. Whether you've made a purchase, shared a post, left an encouraging comment, or simply continued to believe in me, you've helped make this dream possible.
This chapter looks different than the last one, but it isn't the end of the story.
It's the beginning of something even bigger.
Welcome to my new home. I'm so glad you're here.
